Horses & Ponies to suit all standards of rider

Our range of horses and ponies enables us to offer children and adults riding lessons on the flat and over jumps to a wide degree of ability. We also have horses trained to carry side saddle. The horses/ponies range from younger animals to school masters covering riders ranging from novices to competition/exam riders.

Houston is also a Pony Club Centre

We are an affiliated Pony Club Centre. Children can join the Pony Club through Houston even if they do not own their own pony. This enables them to join in with some of the pony club training that happens at Houston on one of our ponies.

We are BHS Approved

The British Horse Society is a world wide recognised organisation. It still holds the torch for the most recognised exams that students can get to credit their ability, particularly towards teaching skills & therefore improve their chances of gaining employment in the horse industry. We offer training at Houston towards sitting these exams. We are ourselves not however an exam centre.

We are a Training Centre for SVQ qualifications

We are an approved centre for training students through their SVQ assessments up to and including level III training. Different to ABRS/BHS exams the SVQ assessment systems allow candidates to do course work as part of their daily work and be examined as ready. The assessor then has ample opportunity to view the candidate performing the task. This differentiates itself from the exam day pass/fail method.

We are ABRS Approved

The Association of British Riding Schools is an organisation catering very well towards the clientele of the Riding Schools. They have produced  tests for weekly riders to work through and exams of a more practical nature for people wanting to gain acknowledgement for their work in caring for horses.
