

Things to do during the Summer Holidays
During the summer holidays Houston offers children from the age of 5 years upwards the chance to join in our "3 Day Pony Courses" and for those over 9 years, with the appropriate experience, the chance to "Lease a Pony".
The 3 day Pony Courses run during the Summer holidays (Mon-Wed) starting the week beginning 3rd July & running until the week beginning 14th August inclusive. Children are able to attend one, two or all three days.
The course will include 2 x ½ hour riding lessons per day as well as stable management sessions throughout the day on various topics. The children are supervised while being encouraged to learn more about their ponies and perform various tasks & quizzes.
The Stable Management areas covered include;
Handling Horses
Tacking up
Safety
Grooming
Feeding
Care & Maintenance of Tack
Looking after a Horse or Pony at Grass.
The Colours & Markings of Horses.
On the final day we hold a small competition for the children, where everyone gains a certificate.

Also during the holidays we offer "lease a pony" weeks. This enables children, if they want, to lease a particular pony.
The 5 day lease runs during the Summer holidays (Mon-Fri) starting the week beginning 5th July & running until the week beginning 14th August inclusive, with the exception of week beginning 17th of July
The week will include a one hour stable management lesson on the first morning and an hour riding lesson per day. The stable management session will be on topics such as mucking out grooming, tacking up, tack cleaning and general care of your pony
Prices : £70 for a 5 day lease.
