Things to do during the Summer Holidays 

During the summer holidays Houston offers children from the age of 5 years upwards the chance to join in our "Mini Camps" and for those over 9 years the chance to "Lease a Pony". 

Mini Camps 2004

The Mini Camps run for 3 days each Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday of each week during the holidays. Children are able to attend one, two or all three days.

This year the mini camps run from 5^th July July to 16^th August inclusive.

The day runs from 10:15am until around 3:00pm, so a packed lunch is needed, and consists of a group riding lesson in the morning, stable management lessons and a second riding lesson in the afternoon. The children are supervised while being encouraged to learn more about their ponies and perform various tasks & quizzes.

The Stable Management areas covered include;

• Handling Horses

• Tacking up

• Safety

• Grooming

• Feeding

• Care & Maintenance of Tack

• Looking after a Horse or Pony at Grass.

• The Colours & Markings of Horses.

On the final day we hold a small competition for the children, where everyone gains a certificate.

Lease a pony

Also during the holidays we offer "lease a pony" weeks. This enables children, if they want, to lease a particular pony. They will have a one hour lesson each day Monday to Friday and will then have the responsibility to clean that pony each day & ensure its tack is clean as well as ensuring that the pony gets that little extra attention for the week.

Prices    :    £55 for a 5 day lease.
